Join Bobby Black weekdays from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
He’ll help you get through your day in between periods of pretending like you’re working!
At noon, he’ll serve-up a heaping helping of “Hair in Your Lunch” with an hour of music from the ‘Decade of Decadence’ when guy-liner, Aquanet, parachute pants were the rage and when rats in your hair didn’t mean you had a rodent problem!
Hey, I’m Bobby Black!
I was born and raised in Oklahoma and super stoked to be here on The Hawk. I grew up listening to classic rock and going to Steve Miller and Doobie Brothers concerts. I remember Hair Of The Dog by Nazareth was the first time I really fell in love with music. I was listening to the radio at my grandparents’ house when I was like 5 or 6 when it came on and instantly I was hooked. When I was in the 4th grade this girl gave me her cassette of Quiet Riot’s “Metal Health”. Oh yeah, the rest as they say is history. I knew right away radio was where I wanted to be, it just took a few years. I’ve been a radio rat since I was about 20 working at different rock stations in OKC, Dallas, Tulsa and now Yakima.
I love rocking out to Ozzy, P.O.D., The Smashing Pumpkins, and Motley Crue, just to name a few. But I’m all over the place. I adore Ella Fitzgerald, got to hang out on Willie Nelson’s bus one time, can never get enough of Blue October & Seether, and I crank up all the heavy stuff like Pantera, Slayer and Metallica but also love bands like Cage The Elephant, Middle Class Rut and Silversun Pickups. And I now feel that Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side Of The Moon” is the best album of all time.
I’ve got a wife who is way too good for me and 4 totally awesome kids, whom I tell each of them they are my favorite. Someday that’s going to bite me in the butt. I love video games, ADIDAS anything, Mexican food, and hanging at the river, and talking to random people. I’m a serial pizza eater, cat lover, Dazed & Confused fan, Snickers junkie, lottery winner wanna-be, island lover, good parallel parker, not a football player, an actress/model/dancer, whatever..
